Dec. 6, 2013 -Visitors to Fort Valley State University’s website may have noticed that the site underwent a makeover recently. Two weeks ago, the campus’ newly redesigned homepage went live. The new site —currently in its first phase—displays intuitive navigation and a cleaner design. The page now includes user-friendly features such as quick access to news, events, social media, the FVSU directory and most-frequented pages.
The one-month project, overseen by Dr. Melody L. Carter, vice president of the Division of External Affairs and executive director of the FVSU Foundation, Inc., is the result of input from FVSU faculty, staff and students. Based on concepts presented by Marketing and Communications’ staff and interns, the site was developed by Fritz Marggraff and the Progressive Consulting Technologies Inc. team, a web technologies company in Macon.
“Countless individuals contributed to this project, but I especially want to thank FVSU’s president, Dr. Ivelaw Lloyd Griffith, for initiating the decision to enhance our web presence,” said Carter.
“Our web ‘face’ is a critical window to many worlds,” said Dr. Griffith. “This new site, part of a larger project, enables us to better tell the story about the grand opportunities we offer, with wonderful academic and athletic programs, outstanding students pursuing their educational dreams, stellar faculty doing teaching, research, and community service, and great staff members who facilitate the fulfillment of dreams of our students and faculty. Moreover, we take pride in the alums that we have produced, and we want to tell the world about them, as they are making notable differences in the lives of countless families and communities across this state and beyond.”
Drs. Griffith and Carter thanked Marggraff, FVSU IT director Gary Miller, and the FVSU Marketing and Communications team and its interim director, Shonda Lewis, for completing the first phase of the project on time.
“Dr. Griffith gave us a task, I set the perimeters, and Ms. Lewis delivered the project on schedule,” said Cater. “We intent to move forward with Phase II after the holidays.”
“We are excited to have a fresh look for our homepage. The comments received have been positive. We are still tweaking the homepage to ensure it functions properly. For more information about FVSU’s website, contact Marketing and Communications, at (478) 825-6319.
